Etsy fee calculator

What each fee is

• Listing fee. $0.20 to publish or renew a listing, always billed in USD and converted by Etsy at checkout.
• Transaction fee. 6.5% of the item price, shipping and gift wrap.
• Payment processing fee. A percent plus a flat fee, set by the country your bank account is in.
• Regulatory Operating Fee. A small extra percentage Etsy charges sellers in a handful of countries, to cover local digital-services rules.
• Offsite Ads fee. 15% of the order (12% once you've sold $10,000+ in the trailing 365 days) when the sale came from one of Etsy's own ads, capped at $100 per order.
• Currency conversion fee. 2.5% when your listing currency differs from your payment account's currency.

A worked example

Take a $25 item with $5 shipping, sold by a seller with a US bank account, no Offsite Ad and no currency conversion. The order total is $30. The transaction fee is 6.5% of $30, which is $1.95. Payment processing for a US account is 3% plus $0.25, so that's $0.90 plus $0.25, or $1.15. Together that's $3.10 in fees, leaving a $26.90 net payout. The $0.20 listing fee is billed separately, when the listing is published or renewed, not out of this one sale, so it's shown on its own line above rather than folded into profit. If the item cost $8 to make and shipping cost $4, profit on this sale is $26.90 minus those two costs, or $14.90.

An Italian seller pays a different processing rate, because Italy is in the eurozone: 4% plus €0.30 instead of 3% plus a flat fee. On the same €30 order that's €1.20 plus €0.30, or €1.50. Italy is also one of the countries with a Regulatory Operating Fee, 0.80% of price plus shipping, adding €0.24. The Italian seller's total is €3.69 before the listing fee, more than the US seller's €3.10, purely from the country-specific rates.

None of this includes VAT. Sellers in VAT countries also owe VAT on Etsy's own fees, charged separately and not shown here. Etsy applies its fees to the full sale price including shipping and gift wrap, and, where the seller collects it, sales tax; this calculator ignores tax since it varies by buyer location. Every rate above can change, and Etsy occasionally adjusts them by seller location or over time, so treat this as a close estimate rather than an invoice.
