How to bulk edit Etsy listings, and where Etsy's bulk edit stops

Etsy has a bulk edit tool, and it is good at one job: making the same change to many listings at once. Most SEO work is a different job. Each listing needs its own change, and that is where the hours go.

What Etsy's bulk edit can do

In Shop Manager, open Listings, tick the listings you want to change (the box at the top selects all of them), open Editing options, pick an action, make the change and press Apply. According to Etsy's help page, updated in September 2026, you can bulk edit:

Editing a listing costs nothing. Etsy charges $0.20 to create or renew a listing, but there is no fee for editing one, so you can fix a whole shop without paying Etsy anything.

Use bulk edit when one change is right for every selected listing. A new shipping profile, a seasonal tag such as "christmas gift" on thirty ornaments, or the same material fix across a product line are good examples.

Where it stops

A bulk action writes the same text to every listing you selected. Search does not work that way. Each listing competes on its own keyword, against its own page of results, so the useful fix is different for every listing:

So the per-listing work stays manual: open the listing, look up its keyword, compare it with the results that rank, edit, save, and repeat. The arithmetic is plain. At five minutes a listing, a shop of 100 listings takes more than eight hours, and the work comes back every time the competition changes.

Find the listings that need work first

You do not have to open every listing to know where to start. Etsy lets you download your active listings as a spreadsheet: Shop Manager, then Settings, Options, Download Data, Download CSV. The file includes each listing's title, description, price, quantity, tags, materials, image links and SKU.

  1. Open the CSV in Google Sheets or Excel.
  2. Add a column that counts tags. The tags sit in one cell separated by commas, so in Google Sheets =IF(F2="",0,COUNTA(SPLIT(F2,","))) works if the tags are in column F. Check which column holds them in your file.
  3. Add a column with the length of each title, =LEN(A2).
  4. Sort by tag count, lowest first. Every listing under 13 tags leaves search matches unused. Etsy allows 13 tags per listing, each up to 20 characters.
  5. For the listings at the top of the sort, write the one keyword each should be found for in a new column. That column is your work list.

The CSV only goes one way. Etsy has no bulk upload, so the fixes still have to be typed into each listing.

A routine for the per-listing fixes

Work down the list one listing at a time, and change only these three things:

  1. Tags to 13. Search the listing's keyword on Etsy, open the first few organic results, and note the tags they share that yours lack. Add the ones that describe your item truthfully.
  2. Keyword early in the title. If the main keyword sits at the end of the title, move it to the front. Do not add new words to do it. Etsy asks for clear titles, and for English-language shops its search visibility page may offer rewritten ones to review.
  3. Price against the page. Compare your price with the middle half of the top results for the same keyword. Far outside that range is worth a second look, though a lower or higher price is sometimes the right choice for your shop.

Write the date next to each fixed row in the spreadsheet. Then check the listing's rank for its keyword over the next days, so you know whether the change moved it.

How Listrank helps

Today, Listrank does the comparison step on the listing page: it checks your title, price and reviews against the top ten results for your keyword and lists each gap with the numbers behind it. It also tracks your rank per keyword over time.

We are building shop-wide fixes on Etsy's official API. You connect your shop through Etsy's own sign-in screen. Listrank then proposes the tag, title and price changes for every listing, and applies only the ones you approve, one by one. That feature waits on Etsy's approval of the app, so it is not in the extension yet.

Compare your listing with the top ten

Listrank shows where your listing ranks and what the top results do differently. The free plan includes 3 rank checks a day.
